Shameless, I know/

This is a very quick post with the sole purpose of telling you about Noble Parasites, the show I will be doing in April at Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto. "M" is the playwright (and he's incredibly talented) and the cast includes myself, Julian Richings and Amy Rutherford. It's funny, disturbing, dark, intelligent...and sci fi! So if you can, please come and see it.

The play opens on April 10 and runs until the 29th, but there are some previews (from Apr. 5-8) which may be cheaper. They may also be...well...worse, so I'd prefer if you'd come on or after the 10th to see the show when it is really ready for an audience! But if you're only free from April 5 - 8 and then you're going to Alaska for four months or something, see one of the previews.

Please click on the first link over there ------->
(I just love making arrows...wheeee!)
------------------------------------------------->
-------------------->

to check out Theatre Passe Muraille's website. And just as a heads up: the play is not in French. That's just the name of the theatre. It means "Theatre Beyond Walls" but...uh...that's a metaphor because it definitely has walls. Nice brick ones. Ceiling, too. And floors. And a BAR! Yahoooo!

Please buy tickets if you're interested in seeing the show.

Thanks.

(I'm in Vancouver again, by the way -- for absolutely no reason other than I really, really like it here and I have a credit card which makes it dangerously easy to buy plane tickets.)

K.

Curse those credit cards! Though, yay for choosing to use said credit card to come to Vancouver. It is a lovely city, isn't it?

...I don't just say that because I live here. Really. *shifty eyes*

I'd love to come see Noble Parasites! But unfortuantely I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic...which is of absolutely no use to you (I'm sorry!) But I hope it does really well!!

Really wish I could get there to see the play but as I can't (my friend took my credit card out of my wallet and cut it up last month), all I can say is:

Hope it goes really well, break a leg and enjoy yourself in Vancouver. :D

David said you were on your way, and I figured with him gone to work now, you might have more peace and quiet to write there than in your apartment. Or are you just running away from your neighbors? My sister lives with our grandma, so she periodically runs away to my house when she can't stand it anymore. My sister runs, that is, not Grandma. Although if Grandma could drive, she might run away on occasion herself! Anyway, have fun in Vancouver!

Kate, here's an article with reviews of some of the movies at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, CA. "A Dog's Breakfast" has a little asterisk, which means it's a recommended movie. Alas, the article misspells your last name as "Hewlitt"!

Are you going to go down to San Jose with David and Jane this weekend to the film festival?

I'd love to see you in the play, but alas, Toronto is a little bit too far away from me to get to.

Enjoy your time in Vancouver.

Duh, I forgot the thing I wanted to mention from that article is that the reviewer thinks you're a dead ringer for Elisabeth Shue. What do you think about that?

David mentioned that you were going to be in Vancouver... and that you timed your visit right when he was to go back to work. All I can say is "Good timing..."

I am guessing that part of the reason you are there is to go to San Jose - that or to dog sit Mars.

I am glad to see that you are getting work. I hope all goes well with it.David mentioned that you were going to be in Vancouver... and that you timed your visit right when he was to go back to work. All I can say is "Good timing..."

:) Nothing wrong with a little shameless plug!

I wish I could go to one of your plays, but unfortunately it's too far of a drive for me right now. Maybe one of these days when I have more vacation time and more money I can make a great road trip up to Canada.

I hope you have a great time in Vancouver!

Right, would LOVE to come to your play - if only it were a little closer to say..... New Zealand :-o (I triple dog dare you to accidentally buy a plane ticket here ;-) ).
Speaking of theatre, I went to a local production of "The Shape of Things" - very good, although there is something odd about the cast of four speaking in US accents when we're in NZ, and there's no real reason WHY they need the accent, other than I think they (the actors) enjoy the challenge... I enjoyed it, altho was slightly freaked out at how much "looking" into the audience they did :-o I'm never quite sure what to do when making such significant eye contact with people on stage (er, they were only about 10ft away). I went with "slightly alarmed goggly eyes" ;-)

Anyway, it's tomorrow here, which means I'm way overdue for some sleep! And I know I'm really late with this, but I really did enjoy your interview with David off Gateworld (he even asked one of my questions! :-D *foolish geekiness* )

Hello from a gloriously sunny UK.....until the big black cloud on the horizon dumps its load that is.

I had to cut up my credit card during my first year at Uni, due to the overwhelming urge to buy Play.com's entire range of dvd's.

Still who needs a credit card when there's such a thing as a student loan!!....what, I have to pay it back?....with how much interest?....la,la,la...I'm not listening.

Good luck with the play and enjoy Vancouver.

As things stand right now, Thad and I (who have talked about trying to go up and see one of your plays for a couple of months now) will not be able to see "Noble Parasites" in April. If my friends who are renting my house right now hurry up and buy it like they are suppose to, then I can pay off a couple of bills and save some money for a trip or two we would like to go on. Until then, no luck.

But I hope that all goes well and you have a great turn out for it. But do watch those credit cards - my above mentioned bills are the result of credit cards and those awful interest rates we have.

Much success, Kate. Hope you have fun in Vancouver!

I really do wish I could see it. If I could afford to fly from Halifax to Toronto and back, and then afford to buy tickets to the play itself, and then randomly have time off school...

I would then go see it.

Unfortunately, all I can do is wish you luck and I'm sure it will be fantastic. :)

Hee! Hope you're having fun. Also, it rocks that you're a Wicked fan too. *giggles* I make myself up as Elphaba every time I go to see it, which is as often as I can afford to. Takes two hours to do the makeup, but it's so worth it!

On other sorta related things, I had a really weird dream the other night. I don't remember much about it, but I do remember you were in it, dressed up as Glinda! Which I thought at the time "...hey... that's weird... but cool :D" But it was in some kind of train station that looked a bit like Dulles airport and there were Scotch pancakes involved somehow. Don't ask me how, I can't remember. *grins* It was just... so weird. Anyway!

You should totally come to Polaris (formerly Toronto Trek) in July. That would rock! I'm flying over from here to visit some friends and I'm going to the convention with a mate while I'm there. Mostly because Torri is, and I am a scary-level fan of hers. (I'm playing dressup again, so if you do make it, look for the green girl with the pointy hat. ;D)

Good lord, I do sound weird. Well, what the hell, I am! Here-- http://unfaithful-mirror.net/images/photos/con/me&kavan.jpg -- the greenified!

Vancouver is a great city so I understand the deadly ease of buying plane tickets. If I had the time (and more money or someone to stay with...lol) I would be up there as much as I could!

So if I can squeeze away from school, I want to try and come to this play :) At least it runs for most of April (final exams are at the end of April) so I can choose a weekend to blow off the books. ;)

there is actually no point behind me making a comment... except to say that I really have enjoyed reading this blog (I know, I have way too much free time at the moment, but honest that's not my fault and - hang on, why am I always excusing myself? You don't know me from Adam, lol)... it is really cool *grins*

Hope that preparations are going well for the play! It's not shameless self promotion - it's your blog!

I wish I could make it (to Canada generally, in fact), but London twice in as many months is my limit.
(I didn't catch Wicked, but Avenue Q was great! (it was my b/f's birthday and so he got to choose the show. What can I say.))

Has it only been a month and a half since P2?!

I would love to see your play but alas being in England I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic ocean for that.
So all I can say is good luck with it I'm sure it will be fanastic (and there is nothing at all wrong with a bit of shameless plugging,it's your blog after all!)

K.Hew, what's new and good these days? Your Internet wants to know.

I suspect you are v. busy with rehearsals. But I have a lurking fear that you've been waylaid by a terrible depression due to the rapidly devolving quality of all things Veronica Mars. (Hearsay, I admit. I have yet to watch it.)
