Brevity is the Soul of Wit (a.k.a. I'm Going to be Late for Dinner if I Make this Post Too Long)/

It is 4:55pm and I am meeting my oldest and dearest friend (another M! Fancy that!) at 5:30pm for a girls' night/high school reunion type of thing. I still have to choose an outfit, change, make my face look human, buy booze (uh...not for me...it's for my friend...um...Klate Pewlett, who DOESN'T have an ulcer...) and get to Lakeshore Blvd.

So I am going to make this post quick and I am not going to ramble like I did in the first paragraph (and in the title, a little bit.) No! Paragraph Two Kate is concise. Concise concise concise. Yep yep yeppers. Paaaaaragraph Twooooo Kaaaaaate. Here goes: I hope that anyone reading this is having a wonderful day. I also hope that anyone NOT reading this is having a wonderful day -- I just left you out because you're not reading this, so you wouldn't know I was wishing you well and you'd--

Oh man, I'm being long-winded again.

Happy Friday, everyone! That's it. Thank you thank you thank you for all the comments and especially to Jen for the new subsite, which is incredibly flattering and wholly undeserved! (It's pretty damn cool, though. And surreal!)

Also...I hope those of you in the U.S. enjoy McKay and Mrs. Miller tonight. And I hope those of you in Australia enjoy...um...knowing that you share something special with Russell Crowe. And those of you in England? Uh...I hope you enjoy the chocolate there. It tastes better. So does the milk. For those of you living in Germany, Italy, France, Japan, etc. etc....I hope you enjoy knowing I'm intensely jealous of you for living in Germany, Italy, France, Japan, etc. etc.

This isn't brief at all.

Hey, by the way, I saw "Titus" the movie last night and it was AMAZING. WOW. Inspiring. Not happy (unless you're a reeeeal sicko) but inspiring.

And now I'm officially late. Can I use blogoholism as an excuse?

Bye!

K.

Blogoholism is a perfectly good excuse! It's a common affliction for me.

The UK does have better chocolate. Yuck to Hersey's and Nestle.

I'm about nuts to see "McKay & Mrs. Miller" tonight....and several folks on the Sony boards have decided to get together and talk/watch it.

Enjoy your girl's night out!

Hi Kate,

How goes the writing? For the play, not the blogging (because that is going great and want you to keep up the good blogging work you do here)

I guess people envy what they don't have. You're jealous of of us living in Europe etc, and I would love to live in Canada. I've visited several times and I think its a great country and the people are nice too (at least everybody I've met there.)

Your subsite well deserved, since we all think you're great :)

Almost time for the M&MM episode.
I've got my bags of M&M's to eat during the episode.
We've also poked David on his blog to get you a copy of the episode so you don't have to wait untill 2017.

and as everybody allready mentioned, blogoholism is a legitimate excuse.

I hope you have a lot of fun on your girls night out.

some more Dutch:
Vanavond - tonight
vrijdag - friday
onverdiend - undeserved
verdiend - deserved
chocola - chocolate

Although... many people will now ask for a doctors note as so many people will try to get away with stuff by claiming blogoholism. Its raising many concerns. If you aren't writing your play as a comedy, you really should. You write funny well.

McKay & Mrs Miller just finished airing EST, and I had to say: Great Job! This is officially one of my favorite eps of SGA of all time. The bit at the end w/ Jeanie and Rodney? Killed me - you both did a great job! Hope we get to see you back sometime!

I just finished watching M&MM and let me just say that you were amazing in it! All the technobabble you had to memorize, I'm so envious of that ability. You and your brother really showed the sibling chemistry on screen and that was so great to see! Hope to see you in a future episode of Atlantis. This has definitely been a highlight of the season :)

I just finished watching 'McKay and Mrs. Miller' and wow, I can just say WOW. You and David are awesome together! There needs to be more Jeannie in the future. She's a great character. And as a fellow vegetarian, I was glad to see that the character was one as well! I was really looking forward to this episode, and it was better than I expected! Meredith! HA!

Well, I hope English will do for a comment *g*. We just saw McKay and Mrs. Miller, and it was fantastic. It hit a little close to home for me, as I have an older brother that I never talk to (and yes, I cried a little and am calling him in the morning), so there's that. Very effective, and we need at least a bi-yearly Jeannie appearance; raised the hotness factor (which was already quite high), AND the McKay love (also high high). So yes. More Jeannie, please.

Wow, McKay and Mrs. Miller was a fantastic episode. Watching you and your brother together was such a treat. I loved having an outsider's view to the whole Stargate program, and as a scientist myself, I love that Jeannie is just as smart, if not smarter than her dear brother. You brought a great energy to the show, and I hope to see the character return!

Just watched "McKay and Mrs. Miller", and it was an okay episode. Sadly I feel that it had a very strong (funny) first half but a much less exciting second half.

The emotional stuff worked great, but putting it together with another "save the universe by the push of a button, again" lessened the impact in my eyes. I think it could have been even more interesting (and with more conflict) if the problems of the parallel universe weren't so conclusively confirmed (especially so heavy-handed as with the appearence of 'the traveller'), but maybe a theory held strongly by Mrs.Miller, creating conflict with the "the odds of it being populated are astronomical" POV of McKay. This would then become a battle of wills and prestige between the two siblings, of course ultimately leading to McKay realizing he doesn't always know best.

Sure, this removes the 'the grass isn't always greener'-aspect of the story, but I found that weak anyhow. Maybe the needed that just so that the rest of the cast would get some lines :-\

Anyhow, you did very good work in this ep (enough for me to find you here), so congrats on that.

Regards,
eloj.

(PS. You could probably double for Mary McCormack, or am I weird for making that association?)

It's been said a lot of times here already, but I have to say it too: M&MM is a fantastic episode!

I just watched it and when it ended I just sat there and couldn't do anything for a moment. The ep made me cry, made me laugh, made me feel all fuzzy inside, short, made me very, very happy! I wish it could have been much longer!
And you're insanely beautiful and talented! Loved seeing you and David as siblings in this episode. Your chemistry is amazing!

Hope your friend forgave you that you were late. :) Blogoholism is a good excuse, at least for the first two or three times. After that you might get sent to withdrawal treatment, so be careful. Better say you couldn't find your keys/the bus was late/the weather was bad/all your fav clothes were in the laundry/your mother called you/it's Friday and the pope is catholic and the annyoing dog of your annyoing neighbour tried to bite you while you were trying to find your keys to go to the launderette to wash some clothes to have at least something to wear while you were talking to your Mum on the phone and trying to convince her that pizza is great food for any child may it be 7 or 29 and that the rain that goes down outside surely isn't such a bad thing as the bus might be late then and you'd never catch it otherwise.

Ehhh...did I say that I envy you living in Canada?

Second - Lovely work on the episode we FINALLY saw last night! I can assure you, Jeannie now has her own fans who can't wait for another appearance. The banter back and forth was just priceless.

Third - Thanks for the thoughts on "Titus". I had been thinking about watching that one but I had heard really mixed reviews. Might have to give it a shot...

In closing, YES being addicted to mucking about with your blog is an excuse for nearly everything. :D

Okay Kate, I know it's unethical and all, but I know of a way that you can watch McKay and Mrs. Miller. You can probably download it on limewire(sort of like the newest version of Napster) in a few days. Some people occasionally post Atlantis episodes that they download off of their TiVo's and then put them out there for others to see. Since it was broadcast on cable, I"m not sure of legality issues, but I still thought if you wanted to see how great you were sooner than 2017 you might want to give it a shot!

Just saw McKay & Mrs. Miller. Wow, you were great in it! Now that it's aired, you'll have to tell us all about your time on set.

Martin (I think it was Martin) is so right about the "Hewlett-isms". I can see it in the way you move your hands, and in the way you hold yourself. And, "Sorry!". Sam is right. That was cute!

I have to admit, when we first learned about the possibility of you being on the show, I googled you. And saw that you worked with an actor by the name of Brendan Gall. Which was the name of a scientist in the first season of Atlantis. Now he's the actor who was cast as your husband. Can you tell us how that came about?

Again, great job! I hope they can write you in again on the show.

Wonderful job! And did we make a mistake or did someone we saw in a picture you posted the other day also show up in the show?....

David was excellent as always. Seems they can always come up with some way to keep him 'busy' - shall we say.

Hi Kate,

Saw the McKay and Mrs Miller ep yesterday.

I totally did not know what to expect (I resisted spoilers for this) and was very pleasantly surprised by how it all gelled together.

Your scenes with David were incredibly - a great blend of comedy and a touch of sentimentality (uh is that even a word)! I also like Jeanie's interactions wtih the other cast members.

Saw Titus a long while back - it was a very dark movie and some scenes made me gasp in surprised. But I loved it and I like Jonathan Rhys Myers. I like his versatility and the fact that he always picks different types of roles.

Ugh... I had a ten years high school reunion 4 years ago - didn't realise that time had past so much!

Have fun :)

Kate! You have a blog! Where have I been to miss out on that...? Bad fangirl - bad! (Chastises self severely)

So now that I've already probably disturbed you, I'll go on to make it worse: McKay and Mrs. Miller has had me wildly excited for months now, and when I heard you were cast, I was literally jumping up and down for days. And then I watched Dark Water because you were in it - and very wonderful you were, too. :) And of course, now iTunes hasn't put M&MM up yet! Growl, grumble, grumble...

I love your blog... I couldn't stop laughing. And Rufus is really sweet. I'll definitely be coming back here to read of the marvellous exploits of PHARK.

Sorry if I sound a bit obsessive here... I tend to get carried away. ;) I'd go and bug your brother, too, but he doesn't allow anonymous comments (understandably), and I don't blog, because I never have anything to say. (Looks at long, long comment.) Ahem.

Oh, and as to my website - you don't want to got there. I just stuck it on for kicks. However, you will be in the banner as soon as I manage to make a new version.

Well, that was a Stargate episode as I love them best: warm and witty, emphasis on the characters, what moves them, their interaction (absolutely loved the click between Sam and Jeanie by the way!) My husband and I did a lot of laughing out loud and there was some blinking away of tears during the brother/sister moment at the end (only by me though...)

You and David made it so easy to empathize with Jeanie and Rodney, all the way.

I hope you enjoyed working on this as much as I enjoyed the result.

The chemistry between you and your brother onscreen was delightful and I hope we see you again on the show or in something else soon.

Kate -
Your blog writing is awesome - really shows your personality coming through and that's the best kind of blog. Also, saw "McKay and Mrs. Miller" (yes, I'm Canadian, but there are ways of watching SGA when one is motivated!). Thought the show was wonderful - the scenes with you and David in particular were so well done, and the hug at the end was ... I think I teared up! The episode's definitely a fan hit so you should be proud!

Thought I'd just add my two cents also on this-great job on M & MM. Loved you in it. It worked so well.

And yes, I did wander over here because being a fan of your brother's but I'm glad it did! I get a kick out of reading your blog! New fan here!

Thanks again!

Just dropping by for quick hello - hope you weren't that late for your meeting and had FUN!!!

Anyway, about McKay & Mrs. Miller - didn't like the ep, but enjoyed you and David to the max. You two are amazing!!

And you remind me of Grace Kelly. Same kind of beauty. I think you're more talented, though.

Hope to see you again soon in a movie (if A Dog's Breakfast makes it to Germany, all the better).

Before I start sounding too stalkerish, I sign off. Best of luck to you, and thank you for this blog.

Hello there! First time seeing this blog! I was just wondering about who was McKay's sister in Stargate Atlantis "McKay and Mrs. Miller" episode, did a little search, and found that you were actually brothers. Searched a little further and found this blog. Now I read all of this and I guess I'll just add it to my favorites, because I think you have a great sense of humor. I also loved the episode and I think it would be great to see you both on other episodes. To finish I have to say that you got yourself a fan from Portugal..Shouldn't be the first one since you had comments in Portuguese for other entries (didn't really see them, just your reference in another post), but they could be from Brazil or other country, so I might actually be your first fan in Portugal (at least the first that comments your blog). Great... And now I'm starting to think I probably have written a comment longer than the original post. Sorry for that. Keep up the good work. Parabéns (pelo episódio e pelo blog)! É melhor ficar por aqui, antes que faça um comentário com o dobro do tamanho do post original. Babel fish is your friend. If you wish to bother at all :p

If for nothing else, just to see the wrapper ;)

haha! When reading your last two entries, suddenly I don't feel so alone in the fact that here up in Canada we won't get SGA until like, 2010.

Wanna hear ironic?

I live a mile from the Bridge Studios and have to wait two years or so for new eps on cable! Yarg. But I hear that the ep was FABULOUS and has a great rating on gateworld.net!

As for Titus, i agree--artistically wonderful and very disturbing on some levels, but incrediably inspiring. I liked the artistic aspect of that movie best. I heard Anthony Hopkins almost quit the business because of that movie.

Lots of people probably told you this already, but I just wanted to add mine: You were awesome as Mrs. Miller. You technobabbled like a pro. I'd love to see Jeannie again in the show.
