The First Day of The Last New Year /

Well, DON'T WAKE ME closed last night on a high note: a great audience and one of our best performances. Yaaaahoo! What a phenomenal experience. Acting is fun. (Sometimes I forget that. You know, like when I'm eating Alphaghetti for dinner every night and living off my Visa. Is that how you spell Alphaghetti? Alphagetti? Alfa...forget it. It doesn't matter. The point is, I like being an actor today.) Chris Stanton and John Cleland kicked some serious acting butt in the show and Chris Hanratty is a director extraordinaire! Can't wait to work with them all again some day soon (I hope). It was also a truly remarkable experience writing a play with four other people. Such a great challenge.

But! No rest for the wicked, so...

I began rehearsals today for The Last New Year -- a feature film that I am acting in with my lovely and talented friends Philip Graeme, Andrew Hachey, Margaret Evans, Mike McPhaden and a bunch of other fantastic actors (Casey, James, Aaron, etc.) whose last names I don't know yet because I took a Neocitran before the readthrough and was too spaced out to do basic things like...oh...introduce myself to the cast. One of the actors is in that new show The Tudors! Kris Holden-Reid is his name and he is very talented. And nice. I love it when that happens. So rare. Wow. Now I'm just staring at my computer screen, thinking how odd computers are and how far they've come since the days of the Commodore 64 and the Ghostbusters video game. I think I'm still high. Neocitran should be outlawed. Or free and available at Starbucks. I can't decide.

We (me and the cast -- not me and the Neocitran) rehearse all this week, then begin shooting on the 20th of January. And guess where the film is being shot...

...keep guessing...

...and guessing...

...Neocitran is awesome...

...and lemony...

...ellipses are funny-looking...

...IT'S BEING SHOT AT THE LOFT! YES, THE LOFT! OF LOFT-IN-TRANSLATION FAME! How weird is that?! And three of the actors in it were members of the original "PHARK" if you remember that far back. P for Phil; A for Andrew; and K for...um...me. Garfield Lindsay Miller (who moved into my room when I moved out) is directing the movie, as well as being a co-writer.

Okay. That's all for now. Going to bed now, where I will probably dream about talking lemons and animated kettles or something equally terrifying and drug-induced.

I should sell this stuff on the black market. I'll call it Neoine. Or Citral Meth. Or Neojuana.

Wow. Goodnight.

K.

You are too flippin' adorable for words, with your drug-induced babble. Have fun shooting the movie!

I would definitely spell it "Alphaghetti," yes.

And that was probably the most delightfully... exuberant thing I've read all evening. I need to get myself some of that Neocitran! I'll have to google what it's for, because it sounds vaguely like the way I react to Maxalt, except that has the added effect of making my head go numb from the eyebrows up. Very strange sensation!

Mmm Alphaghetti... Now I have a craving... =^.^=

I've never tried Neocitran, but my Benadryl induced dreams can be quite fantastic.

Also I feel a bit vindicated now. I knew that was you in the commercial for Psych last Friday despite no listing on IMDb. I kept saying it was you and the episode finally proved me correct! You were great in it.

Congrats on the film. I wish I had gotten to see your play. Next time I'll have to drive up from Philly.

Congratulations on ending the run of your play on a high note. And for the film role. I hope the movie will make its way to the states.

I saw your appearance on Psych the other day. Did you know when the show was going to air? Do you get the channel where you live? I thought Stacey sounded like your "Humans Anonymous" character Gema when she happy talked to her cat Charlie. But without the accent. Maybe it's just me. 8-)

Your pre-holiday interview with GateWorld is on their front page right now. You can read it, or even listen to yourself.

Take care!

Just finished watching my Tivoed copy of Psych. I have to admit I was only half-watching, while working on my computer, but then I heard a voice...a very familiar voice. I looked up and there you were! Wheeee! Lovely job, my dear. Lovely. :)

And one more thing...Ghostbusters on C64! OMG! I used to LOVE that game! Don't cross the streams!!!!

Heee! Yay for the awesome play run!

And you are just too cute. Neocitran is in a drink called Lemsip here, and it's buzzy.

Oh! I'm in training to be a quit advisor at the moment, to help people stop smoking. Best part time student job ever. Anyway, whenever I catch sight of the happy, healthy non-smokers in this picture, I think of you. Ok, so she doesn't look *that* much like you. Well, she doesn't really look like you at all. But I'm allowed to be a bit random because I'm high too. On painkillers for my sprained ankle.

La, laaaa. Or something.

You know, I was going to ask if you've met Baz yet, but I took it out because I thought that might be a bit personal even though we spoke about it back in November at "Humans Anonymous." But since you twittered about it, then I say hooray for you.

Did you see David's latest My Favorite Line from "Miller's Crossing" on YouTube? Lots of Baz-ness in that, even though Baz doesn't make an appearance in it.

Perfect timing. So much to tease David about.

I'm so excited! PHARK!! And THE LOFT!! (I'm doing a lot of shouting and I'm not on Neocitran.)

At any rate, please try and update us on the happenings with PHARK. It would be nice to catch up with them again.

Feel better soon!

This movie sounds good ! I'd like myself to shoot a movie with my friends (well, I want to be a film-maker so I should hurry somehow), but they are not very found of the idea. And the friends I have in my theatre school are a little reluctant. And a movie only with myself would sound desperatly desperate, so I guess I'm doomed.
Well, it is a pleasure to hear that Don't Wake Me was a success ! I'm sorry I couldn't go and see it, but the way from France to Toronto is a bit long. I would love to see it one day though !

Good luck with all of your projects !

Wow, stoned Kate is even cuter than usual. :D Congratulations on the excellent play run, and omg yay for the recovening of PHARK! Or part-PHARK! and the Loft - you're going to have some deja vu.

Neocitran sounds like a fun way to deal with a cold - if you can't breathe, at least you can be randomly high. We don't have it in the US, so I suspect there would be a market.

Kate you are way too funny. Yummmm Alphaghettie...is that how you spell it? Haven't had that in eons now I want some. Thanks a lot.

The play was awesome second time I saw it. You rocked the first time I saw it. You rocked in it. Looking forward to the next play/episode of SGA/movie/commercial that you are in.

Congratulations on your continued success! Glad to see that you are always keeping busy, too. Just watched "A Dog's Breakfast" for the second time last weekend and laughed just as hard! Also made sure the two copies I found at Best Buy were in good view of the public ;-) Take Care!

Congrats on the play/movie expeditions.

"Alphaghetti" sounds good to me...to dwell may lead to brain freeze so best to be assertive and plunge in with a dfinative answer.

Ghost Busters on C64, genius game, though I never quite managed to complete the darn thing....instead I switched to Bubble Bobble, which was much more within my joystick capabilities.

Good luck with filming

I'd actually never even heard of Neocitran; I had to look it up! Sounds like good stuff though, as does the new project - especially with the fun former loft coincidence.

Like many of the other commenters, I just watched my DVRed Psych ep last night, and you were fantastic! Hopefully we'll see you in something else again soon. :)

A couple of days late(hven't been on the net much lately), but I hope you are feeling better Kate. Glad to hear DON'T WAKE ME had such a great last night. And your new project sounds cool. The Loft...even more cool!

Sounds like this year is starting off wonderfully for you. Hope it just gets better and better! Best wishes to everyone on the film.

*nods* I know exactly what you mean about the Neocitran. I spent a couple months in Winnipeg and got sick while there.

Hope you feel better soon, and that the movie shooting goes very well!

Can I get some of that substance that you were on when writing this? Cause that sounds like fun ;)

As for the film, please keep us informed! Can't wait to hear more about it!

Loved the surprise of seeing you on Psych last Friday!

Be careful with that neocitran stuff. I had some a couple years back and it royally messed up my liver and make me dizzy for weeks to the point where I had to get blood tests and an ultrasound to make sure my liver was ok. Also spiked my citrus alergy to the point where i can't have oranges anymore :(

I have to admit, I only came looking for your blog because of something you'd said on your brother's blog. Didn't think much of it other than "she's got a great sense of humor" at first. Saw you in SGA-M&MM and decided to come back.

Gotta admit, I keep checking regularly, whether you write or not (just in case!)

So glad you wrote again! Honestly some of the most "hilarious in a disturbing way" yet more entertaining than pretty much anything else I've seen in ages.

Thanks for making me laugh!

I hope you will be better soon. :) Neocitran is awesome, you should write a book about those dreams. The title could be: Dream-o-citran. :)

C64 still rlz, but the Ghostbusters game s*cked. Big time. Have you ever heard of "The Angry Video Game Nerd"? Searh his page on google, the game Ghostbusters were tested, I laughed my head off. :)

My favourite game was btw Aztec Challenge and Giana Sisters and International Karate... I'm a nerd too I guess. :)

Congratz 4 the film. :)
