Hi there... /

Well, I had decided to update my blog with talk of peanut butter and roast wheat sandwiches (I've temporarily gone vegan), then I saw the comment about how I only update when I'm trying to promote something. So now I guess I'd better promote something, or I'll be proving that awesome dude/dudette wrong.

Um...I'm writing to promote my...cat? Yeah. My cat. He has just recorded an album about a movie he wrote starring him and my other cat, Martha. It's called "Self-Promotion: The Movie Musical About Me". Hope you enjoy it.

I'm also writing to promote my new roll. I stopped working out a few months ago and I just noticed that I now have four hips instead of two. So that's exciting. My new roll will no doubt be expanding until the summer, when I can start running again.

Also...I'd like to promote my new house. I moved (YES. AGAIN. I HAVE A PROBLEM. I KNOW) in the middle of December and I have a proper home now, with one roommate, two cats, a real live staircase...and a dishwasher.

Most of all, I would like to promote self-promotion. 'Cause hey -- it's important.

Hope you are all well and WARM. It's freakin' cold in Toronto.

k.

A real live staircase you say? Well that is something to celebrate. You could build up your legs running up and down the stairs until the weather gets decent. Or something.

I'm moving to a new place next weekend - not much fun! I too am excited about the dishwasher though, never had one of those before.

Thanks for the entertaining blog... know what though? You forgot to promote your re-established website!

Speaking of websites, followed the link on there to your fan site and the fan site has a nasty virus!

Kate it is only -4 out. That is not cold. This has been like the nicest winter in ages. I pulled my running shoes out of the closet last week (though I did have to put them back yesterday) and started up my jogging again (the dog sure appreciated it, even if my out of shape legs didn't).

Don't tell me it's freakin' cold!! This time next year I will be living in Toronto. I'm from Australia, i've never seen snow, and I know i'm just going to die.

Goodluck with the vegan thing. I lasted 3days before I realised that I hated vegan cupcakes. And nothing is worth doing if you can't have cupcakes.

Hey there - thanks for the promos. Definitely looking forward to the cats' album, whenever it is available.
Speaking of availability: Can we hope for an European release of 'A Dog's Breakfast' any time soon (e.g. before 2010)? I've read so many good things about the movie, I'm itching to watch it, but the DVD is coded region 1, and the Hulu stream only works in the USA. :-/
BTW, it's cold in Frankfurt, too, and thoroughly miserable. Toronto can't be any worse, no way!

And congrats for the new house! I'm going to move next month, too. Staircase - check - dishwasher - check - roommate - no. But a rooftop terrace! Can I promote that on your blog, please?

Kate, how you make me chuckle...you moved again...woman are you part gypsy? ;-)

I once lived in a block of flats, in student accomodation, oh, how much fun I had when those little rascals would repeatedly put the lifts out of action....as I wheezed and panted my way to the 13th floor...good times...though now I have calves of steel, so every cloud etc.

Aw, pay the troll no mind, that's what he's after (I'm guessing "he"). First off, it's not true, secondly, so what. It's your blog, do what you want with it. Most of the fans who read this just wanna know what's going on with you. That includes creative stuff you're up to. Whatevs. You are awesome.

I used to live in a house with a staircase and a dishwasher. It even had a nice little backyard. It was so nice and roomy. As for why I don't live there anymore, I guess you might say one of the roomie had a midlife crisis and sold the place.

I have moved around a lot too. I have lived here for 20 years and have moved about 12 times. The scary thing is I am moving again in Sept. One of these days I would love to settle down but things just haven't worked out that way yet.

Have you ever thought about taking your play to Halifax? I would love the opportunity to see it.

The joys of having different people in the world. That would drive me crazy to move so much.

But a staircase. Cool!

Congrats on getting the funds to do the short. Hooray!

I try not to give attention to people who anonymously write things like that, but you do it with such style and humor! Thanks for updating us...I am truly envious of your dishwasher...

Thanks for the great pointers on promoting!! :)
Ugh running in cold weather is not fun, unfortunately I don't have much choice in the matter. The Army doesn't seem to care what the temperature is. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are run days and that's final. :p One good thing is that I don't have to motivate myself to get out and run. They do it for me! :D

Ah a new place again? :) What do Martha and Rufus think of it?

"Vegan carrot cake"? There is non-vegan carrot cake? I think maybe I don't really know what vegan means (perhaps because I consider vegetables to be a condiment for meat). I'm going to go wander off and educate myself now.

Ah, Kate. So good to hear from you again. I've been kind of 'missing' from the net myself - damn real life and it's problems. Good to see that you and the cats are now in a house. Wonderful things houses - and with a staircase and dishwasher to boot. Very nice!

Good luck with being a vegan. And, sweety, if you have four hips then you don't want to know how many I have. Seriously, you are a beautiful woman. Do what makes you feel happy and comfortable with yourself. Everyone else can go to.....

The weather here has been warm and cold. It has been nearly 60 degrees one day and the next it's only 24 and snowy. Wish it would make up it's mind because illnesses are running wild. On a side note, speaking of illnesses, I found out this morning that one of my babies (a fourteen and a half year old kitty) has terminal cancer. The vet and I are trying a series of shots to keep her last few months as pain free as possible.

Yay for veganism! If you don't already own a copy of the cookbook, Veganomicon, I suggest taking a look at it.

I'm a vegetarian rather than vegan but I recently added this amazing book to my collection and so far it has been 5 for 5 entrees receiving rave reviews from vegetarians, omnivores, and my vegetable-phobic guinea pi--, er, brother.

Here is my favorite recipe thus far, Braised Seitan with Brussels, Kale, and Sundried Tomatoes. MUCH better than the lentil loaves, pasta topped with jarred marinara, and endless iceburg salads when I was a vegan 20 years ago.

I suppose that I should say that I'm not in way profiting from recommending the book, yes? I tend to get a bit excited about this book so I might be confused for its publisher's P.R. department. If vegan food had been this tasty and fun when I was 19, I might still be a vegan.

Congrats on your new house, your new stairs, and your new dishwasher!

Kate, you sure like to move around. Are you hiding from the cops? Your Brother? or The Tax Man? Cuz all three of them can find ya no matter where you move to. I moved last June. Now I am over here near Wilson. I am south of Wilson. Near Avenue Road. Where are you now?

Kate I joined the YMCA and took up Karate a year ago and that has really dropped the weight on me. And at the YMCA lots of cute guys in the Weight Room. Yummy.

I have only two hips. Two hips that are much larger than I would like.

Oh wait...now that my pants are zipped tight I see 4 hips. *sigh* I really hate that.

*headdesk*

I want to go to a spa....a spa which is really a fatfarm. I know that's not politically correct....but it's my fat so I can call it that. And, I want to be fed really delicious food that has almost no calories. And, I want to go horsebackriding...on the beach...with hunky guys. Oh wait...my husband might not appreciate that. *sigh* Um...I still want the horsebackriding on the beach....and dancing...and swimming...um...and long walks. All other forms of exercise are forbidden. Cuz I don't like them. *grins*

And, my apologies as I'm really in a weird mood.. *wink*

You only have four hips? I'm jealous. I'm trying to work my way down from eight.

Might I suggest Almond butter and crisp lettuce sandwiches as a more delicious alternative? Hey, I picked up the recipe from my Canadian step-sister. I had raised eyebrows at first but, I guess she knew what she was talking about. She also added butter to each slice but that's not vegan...also you're trying not to get to 6...

Speaking of strangely delicous sandwiches, in my boredom and because of my disdain for traditional cafeteria food, at school I "came up" with (I'm sure I'm not the first), the toasted cheese honey sandwich. Toast two pieces of wheat bread, add UNmelted cheddar cheese, add honey on top of cheese, and final slice'o'bread. So good. Even got the boys going on it. They were mad jealous they hadn't come up with it first. I became a lunchroom hero. Ah, the glory days.

I probably shouldn't build up the sandwich so much. Especially since if you're still vegan you can't technically eat it..
