A Cool Dude Goes Out On His Own /
So...Steven Page has left the Barenaked Ladies after twenty odd years and is now focusing on his solo career. Here is a link to his facebook fan page if you want updates on concerts, media bookings, etc.:

I have seen him perform live as a solo artist and he is WONDERFUL. He's also a really lovely and funny person, which gets him bonus marks in my book (not that I have a 'book'. I have a MacBook -- does that count?)
Also...thanks so much for all the responses to my last post. Now I have no excuse! Let the writing BEGIN!

I'm rather sad to hear he's no longer with BNL, as they are above and beyond my favourite group. But I will definitely be following him on his new ventures now. Thanks for the heads-up.
...is your blogging, mayhaps, a brilliant way of disguising an episode of procrastination?
I approve (I should be working right now, and instead? I'm blogging. Oops.)
God, I haven't listened to BNL in a long time... I forsee a splurge on iTunes shortly.
I was very sad to hear this yesterday. BNL won't be the same without him. :(
Thanks for the info - and good luck with your writing!
What I didn't ask you yesterday - has your muse ever kissed you in a coffee shop? I guess, muses are as different as people. Mine is a shy creature and only comes to my help when I am on my own.
A very nice pic to start off your blog today. The best of luck to Steven/ I'm sure he'll do quite well as a solo artist.
You are very welcome for the responses. It is always fun to help you out if we can.
Oh my gosh, really? I'm so bummed :( BNL was my second ever concert experience. They've always been close to my heart. Barenaked Ladies Are Me was basically the soundtrack to my senior thesis in creative writing.
And now I have moped all over your blog. Sorry about that! Good luck on the writing thing!
I lived in Boston when BNL was first beginning to get US airplay, and I like to think that Boston and BNL had a special relationship. I'm sad about Page leaving, but will definitely be checking out what he's up to now.
Stop procrastinating. Write! Give me a reason to come up to Toronto and see a play!
I never got to see BNL together live and now I'm sad I wont get to. However, I'm still looking forward to what he and BNl will do in the future. :)
Oh, wow, thanks for the heads up! Just a few weeks ago my husband and I were on the cruise that BNL has done for the last few years (we aren't huge BNL fans but we like them just fine and we were mostly there to see other bands - I posted about it over on the blog) and I don't think this comes as much of a surprise to anyone who was there; it's been quite a year for them and there was palpable tension on the cruise. And, to be quite frank, what I saw of his behavior while we were on the boat did not particularly endear him to me, and maybe now I can attribute all of that to other difficulties that were harder to see, which is quite nice, yeah?
Also, hey, you're in TO - are you doing any of the Canadian Music Week stuff, and/or have you done it before? I have some time off around that week and a friend & I were thinking of driving up - is it worth coming into town just to see shows?
Hi there!
First, sorry that this is COMPLETELY unrelated to BNL...(and also possibly inappropriate?)
I'm a grad student at the Catholic Univ. in Washington, DC. I'm getting an MA in Dramaturgy and in one of my classes we're creating our ideal Hypothetical Theatre Company. As part of that we're also creating an ideal hypothetical season. To that end we're reading new plays to discuss in class. I really enjoy your work as an actress and I would really love to read one of your plays. Are any of them available for purchase? I did a cursory Google search and wandered around the Fringe website and didn't see anything. I also went to your website, but your agent just has an address (rather than an email) and I'm a little bit pressed for time. So, here I am, going straight to the source! Thank you so much for your time and have a great weekend!!

Never been a huge BNL follower, did they do 'one week'? cos that was a fun ditty.
Missed your last post thingy but always like to help with a person's procrastination so:

2. Philadelphia
3. A grassy meadow on the South Downs
4. Mullered
5. Rudeness
6. The Goonies
Hope your writing's going according to plan
Ahh, the elusive search for the muse. *grins* Well obviously that's directed at your last post, but apparently hittin' up blog pages has slipped through the cracks the last few days. :)
*shall blame it on the trepidation surrounding my soon-to-be-removed wisdom teeth* Yikes!
BNL isn't exactly my cup of tea but there's no harm in wishing the guy good luck. :)
Like Carrie, I was on the BNL cruise and I was on it too. Definitely sad but a cool new road for him. Saw him perform solo on the ship and yeah, it was definitely amazing!

Whaaaa...? How have I NOT heard about this? Wait, wasn't he also the one who got arrested for possession and was like having an affair and stuff? Or was that another one? Must google this... But um, yeah, sad... I loved BNL for years... (again, confused why I didn't hear about this before. Especially since my mom is seriously obsessed.)
